Highlights from New York Fashion Week Fall 2011-Part 2

One of the highlights of this year's fall fashion week for me was the first fall line from a designer and brand that I love: Olivier Theyskens for Theory now know as Theyskens' Theory. Theyskens added his edge to the line while keeping the look of stylish sophistication that Theory is known for. I have added a few gems from his collection as well as a few fabulous day to night looks from Preen and Rachel Roy and hard edged leather done right at Cushnie et Ochs. (Photos by Style.com)

Deal of the Day

Since I am on a budget I have told myself that I will not be able to purchase anything new for my trip to Mexico this summer. This is a huge deal coming from someone who normally purchases an entire new wardrobe for a vacation. However...I may have to treat myself to today's deal of the day. This indigo smock-waisted dress from Express would be perfect for vacation as well as any random weekend day. It is $49.50, but if you use one of the many coupons Express sends out in the mail you can get $10 off making it only $39.50! I plan on pairing mine with a wide brimmed hat, large black sunnies, wide brown belt, platform sandals and gold jewelry (all from my closet to keep with the budget) for a complete boho chic look.
Happy Shopping!

Elle UK Style Awards

These photos of Blake Lively and Thandie Newton at last night's Elle Style Awards in London have me dying for summer to get here. The gowns are so bright and cheery not to mention gorgeous! (Photos by In Style)

Highlights from New York Fashion Week Fall 2011

As fed up as I am with this winter weather it was kind of hard to get excited about Fall Fashion Week this year. However, the weekend of warm weather and the fact that I didn't need to turn my heat on gave me just the mood boost I needed to start clicking through a few of the shows. Some of the highlights are below. (All photos by style.com).

Shoe Envy

Who needs a man for Valentine's Day when you can have these???? Totally swoon worthy. I must find an affordable version!

Look for Less- Pierre Hardy-Update

Last month I did a post with a couple of options on how to get the look of Pierre Hardy's laser cut out sandals for less. While both options were close in appearance neither of them were as close as these Franco Sarto's. Found at Piperlime for $109, these sandals have a similar cut out pattern with a zipper closure. Still not exact, but I think these are as close as I am going to get. Love them!

When it comes to jewelry, I am an options girl. I would rather buy cheaper jewelry and be able to interchange looks and trends then have fewer options with more expensive pieces. I do however splurge when it comes to everyday pieces. If I am going to part with the extra cash though I like to get pieces from independent designers so they have a little more individuality. My favorite site for everyday pieces is Katie Costello Jewelry, but recently I stumbled upon Chicago designer Jessica Lynne Constable of Jess LC. Jessica's pieces have an everyday wearability with a unique edge. Most importantly all of the pieces are $100 or less. Check out some of my favorites below.

Rachel Zoe's First Collection: Ba-na-nas

As someone who is not hugely into the whole boho trend, I didn't love Rachel Zoe's collection for QVC. It seemed like it was all floppy hats and faux fur vests done twenty different ways. With her first full collection for stores she showed a whole other side of her style. This collection was more structured, streamlined and classy. I loved the menswear inspired looks and the woman definitely showed she knows outerwear (outside the realm of furry vests). As a coat addict I have two words: I die! (Photos By Style.com)

High Gloss Magazine

This year as part of my budget I have cut out a few of my many magazine subscriptions in order to save money. Fortunately free online style magazines are popping up all over the place. The newest one, High Gloss, is a must read. Founded by blogger Paloma Contreras of the blog La Dolce Vita, High Gloss is a monthly collection of fashion, interiors, travel and all things stylish. The highlight of this issue was the amazing dining room by David Jimenez inspired by the days of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. My favorite part is how he divided the area into two sections with the use of a folding screen to create a cocktail and dining area, and come on how fabulous is that rug?
